health and the club

As I sit in my cubicle, having my maggi mee lunch, my mind wandered back to the heaps amount of money I have just spent on a gym membership.

Yes. I am now a member of an exercise club.

Some people who know me personally might be thinking on why the heck do I need to go to the gym? The reason is simple.

Health.

I am fast approaching the big 3-0. I have left the exercise regime since I was 17 years old. Remember the common tale of how one used to be an athlete when in school and left everything related to it when one gets married? Yours truly is one of them.

I used to run 100m and 200m. I used to play badminton and volleyball rigorously. I used to long jump. And due to the erronous long jump that I had when I was in school, I now have a constant back pain. All these activities stopped when I went to Uni. They were totally forgotten when I got hitched.

My body is always on the low energy mode. I'm always thinking that stress is the cause. The truth is, stress has got nothing to do with it. It has everything to do with the kind of food I take and the fact that I haven't been exercising for a very long time. I didn't even exercise after the two births.

So now, my mission is to take it slowly, not to be so excited about it and do it one day at a time. I've seen so many of my friends (nude black men) who after a while doing it, stop altogether.

And I don't want my investment to go bad either. So, I'll be thinking about the money whenever the urge to pause comes for a visit. Well, the only exception is fasting month.......
